Infrastructure

The basic idea behind the infrastructure part of the plan is to have all Texas schools with up to the date technology. The emphasis on current technology is designed for collaboration between other schools for an improved learning experience. Current trends for Texas and the country have been quite encouraging. All indications are that everyone is making a great effort to improve their infrastructure with technology. While some states and districts are obviously a bit more advanced most statistics point to improvement across the board. I believe the best way to continue to improve this area is by requiring districts to purchase up to date technology and require teachers to use it in their classrooms. This will prepare their students for real world applications when they graduate.
I agree with many of the states recommendations for improvement. I was curious about the establishment of affordable and accessible wireless networks. I am puzzled by how they are going to try and control the price for wireless networks. This seems like a good idea in theory, but I do not believe that they have the power to control pricing of wireless connections. My idea would be to get with all major wireless carriers and see what a state wide price would be. This would at least give each district an opportunity to purchase their services. I also have to question how they plan on establishing 24/7 access for parents and the community. The only way to do this is purchase a computer for each family which would not seem feasible. Overall the recommendations of this are very good, but should more in depth thinking should take place before they jump into it.
